Georgian Nightmare

Georgian Nightmare

as the political developments in Georgia are impossible to neglect, the motive of the photographic series Georgian nightmare is to evoke aura of global despair in the city by day and the shifting nature of the ongoing protests in front of the parliament at night. the unyielding aura of global despair remains oppressively weighting over the city as an everlasting dark cloud. the knowledge of the country spiralling downward into political decay remains engraved in the collective consciousness of Georgians, as they carry on with their lives consumed with the agonising reality imposed by the authoritarian government. the shifting nature of the ongoing protests is defined by alternating surges some days fuelled by raging solidarity, other days sustained by desolate sense of duty. a reflection of human nature in its inconsistent waves of temperament.

having lived abroad, i have experienced a dissociation from day to day events, making each return to Georgia a profound emotional shock, confronted with the unimaginable and dehumanising horrors of the unfolding events in the present state of Georgia. the political landscape haunting me as a waking nightmare, utterly surrealistic in its absurdities and its atrocities. through the photographic series Georgian nightmare, i aim to capture the tragic reality confronting my homeland.
